Le 11 septembre 2023 marquera les 50 ans du coup d’état chilien qui porta au pouvoir le dictateur Augusto Pinochet. Pour sauver leurs vies, des milliers de Chiliens étiquetés «ennemis de la nation» ont dû fuir leur pays en catastrophe. Plusieurs ont trouvés refuge au Québec, où des comités de solidarité ont permis l’accueil et l’intégration de nombreuses familles chiliennes. D’une extrémité à l’autre de l’Amérique, des années 70 à aujourd’hui, nous voulons croiser nos regards pour raconter l’histoire des Chilien.enne.s. qui ont adopté un nouveau pays, et celle des Québécois.e.s qui les ont accueilli.

September 11, 2023 will mark 50 years since the Chilean coup d'état that brought dictator Augusto Pinochet to power. To save their lives, thousands of Chileans labeled "enemies of the nation" had to escape their country in a desperate move. Many found refuge in Quebec, where solidarity committees allowed the reception and integration of many Chilean families. From one end of America to the other, from the 70's to today, we want to exchange our views to tell the story of the Chileans who adopted a new country, and the Quebecers who welcomed them.
